Kuzumi is at fault for an accident causing Kijima to break his arm. As Kuzumi cannot afford to pay for the medical bills, Kijima offers an exchange of forgiveness of the debt if Kuzumi will help transcribe his novels. In an effort to understand Kijima more and be better prepared for their work, Kuzumi takes home one of Kijima's books.
Kuzumi is intrigued by Kijima's lack of technology in his life, including the refusal to use a computer for his novels. Tension arises when Kijima's editor makes a surprise visit to Kijima's house.
